From our home in Orem, Utah, we run a small, family-style home for children without a stable place to land. Every gift goes directly to meals, tuition, healthcare, and the dignity of being known.
Our Mission
Every child deserves a soft place to land.
Mitchell Safe Harbour (The Lighthouse) began as a single house in Orem, Utah caring for four kids whose parents were navigating illness, deportation, and housing loss. Five years later, we serve 38 children full-time and another 90 through our after-school program.
We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 04-3683765). Every dollar is accounted for in our annual report, mailed to every donor.

What we provide
Care, in four parts.
Three meals a day
Hot, nourishing meals prepared in our community kitchen — every single day.
Education first
Tuition, books, uniforms, and after-school tutoring for K–12 and trade certifications.
Healthcare & wellness
Regular pediatric visits, mental-health counseling, and dental care for every child.
A family, not a facility
Small house-mother units of 6–8 children so every child grows up with belonging.

South Side Scholars
College & trade prep
ACT/SAT prep, FAFSA support, and apprenticeship placement with Chicago trades partners.
Sunday Suppers
Community meal
Open table every Sunday. Neighbors, alumni, and supporters break bread with our kids.

Tutor, cook, drive, or mentor. We onboard new volunteers the first Saturday of every month.
